The use of ICT in classroom

The use of ICT in the classroom is very useful in teaching and learning. This is because firstly, it saves lot of time. The concepts that are difficult to teach can be taught with the help of ICT. For example: If we teach about food chain, we cannot show a real bird, snake or crocodile but easily with the help of projector, it can be shown very clearly. Otherwise, teacher need to draw the food chain on the chart or on a board which is time consuming and unauthentic.

The use of ICT in the classroom is very convenient and has lot of advantages. For example; the video can be paused, repeated or forwarded based on their convenience. Students can take the information on their thump drive and later they can watch or read whenever needed. Moreover, they can explore on their own if the concepts or ideas are not clear with the help of ICT.

Furthermore the workload of the teacher is minimized, when ICT is used in the classroom. Since, teacher does not need to explain in detail. For example, teacher can provide the students with the required URL and students are able to explore on their own. On the other hand, teacher can download a video and let students to watch it, rather than making teaching learning material (TLM) and shouting in the class.

ICT also provide hand on experience as and when students explore on their own. They will get the detail information on whatever topic they learn and it would be more enjoyable as they explore on their own.
Finally, I would like to say that the use of ICT in the classroom has lot of benefits but just like the two sides of a coin it will have some disadvantages too if  teacher is not vigilant and creative on integration of ICT in the classroom. Otherwise, the teaching and the use of ICT will be totally separated and students will be more confused. We should not forget that the use of ICT in the classroom is mainly to promote the comprehension of students on the deeper level.

Example: This picture shows that students gained more attention when teachers use power point.
